Meet Stitch, a little guy near and dear (literally!) to Mia’s Muzzles. We met Stitch’s foster mom recently and learned of the troubles in finding a muzzle to properly fit his Frenchie face as the one he has currently is only suitable for very short periods of time. Not only is he local, but one of our team members has previously fostered and owned a dog from his rescue as well!
Here’s what they have to say about this little guy:
“This handsome young dog had a challenging start in life, but in spite of that, he is a complete cuddlebug, but it does take him a little time to feel safe when meeting new people.
Stitch is impeccably trained in the home. He is well mannered, comfortable using his crate and shows no signs of separation anxiety. He is currently sharing his foster home with other dogs, however we do feel he would be happiest as a solo dog in his forever home.
Stitch does enjoy leash walks, but due to his lack of socialization he can be wary of approaching people and animals, and does far better walking in a quiet area vs a high traffic zone. At night, he is happiest sleeping in his crate, and once he has built up a level of trust, he loves sharing couch cuddles and being glued to his humans.
A quiet, low activity home would benefit Stitch as he does get anxious with a lot of hustle and bustle, and for this reason we think it best to place him in a family without children. A fully fenced yard is also required as we do feel he would be a flight risk, and would otherwise need constant supervision.
At the vet, Stitch was quite cooperative. We do have a specially designed muzzle which he is well conditioned to wear in situations that may trigger stress reactivity from him, but have found that when he is wearing it, he is much calmer and more at ease. Our medical team had no trouble with his physical examination though Stitch did test Lyme positive. He has since been treated, and we are fortunate enough to have caught it early and as a result he is expected to make a full recovery.
Overall Stitch is a very typical Bully, and those who love and understand the breed, and who can meet his needs for slow and steady confidence building in a quieter home environment will find this charming little squishy face is in fact a true gem with loads of potential!”
