He is now being cared for by Furry Tails Animal Rescue while he waits for his new forever home. Undoubtedly it has been a difficult time for poor Maxx and he needs someone who can understand that.

“Max AKA Maxwell Smart had a loving home for ten years in Texas. That changed when his owner tragically passed away. Max’s former groomer and friends networked to find Max an opportunity for a new start. Overcrowded shelters are no place for a loyal, elderly dog (or any dog)! This is how Max made the long trip to Northeast Pennsylvania to his foster home.
Initially Max was a bit unsure about his new home, and clung to his foster mom for security. After living his entire life one way, he was questioning all of the changes. One day shortly after his arrival, he acted out in fear and bit his foster dad.
Max has since decompressed and received 6 weeks of professional training. Instead of reacting in fear without thinking, he has learned boundaries and coping strategies. He has also lost 12lbs. since his arrival which has improved his mood and mobility. Max loves going on leisurely walks around the neighborhood and snuggling with his family on the couch. Max loves other dogs. He is submissive to the female dog in his foster family, and all the dog meets he has had were successful.
Max has a bright outlook for his golden years and looks forward to using his new skills and thoughtfulness in the future with a forever family.”
