Follow the guides below for instructions on how to measure for your custom muzzle and our standard size Cookie Cutters.

Submitting pictures of your measurements such as the examples is strongly recommended! Try to follow these examples the best you can! It may help to have someone assist you if possible.

Measuring for a Custom Muzzle

Follow these guidelines as closely as possible when measuring your dog for a custom muzzle. Once your order is placed, we’ll review your measurements and reach out if we have any questions or concerns.

Measurement Tips & Tricks

  • Take measurements multiple times to ensure accuracy.
  • Get someone else to help you.
  • Take your photos from the same angles as the example pictures, especially for nose length and width.
  • Make sure to show where the measuring tape begins, especially for nose length (don’t cover with thumb).
  • Take breaks if necessary and go at your dog’s pace.
  • For dogs afraid of the ruler/measuring tape, use something they are not afraid of as a reference instead and measure that instead (eg. your finger, if not a bite risk for this).
  • Submit a photo of your dog panting naturally.
  • If you have a muzzle already, submit photos of your dog in the muzzle and measurements of the muzzle itself (length, width and height) as a reference.
  • Take a video if you are unable to take pictures.

Nose Length

Measure between ¼–½ inches below the eyes to the very end of the nose. If your dog’s lips stick out further than their nose does, measure to the end of the lips instead.

Nose Width

Measure the bridge of your dog’s nose, slightly less than the distance between the eyes. Do not measure the curve of the snout. For wider snouts and brachycephalic breeds, if measurement pictures are not included, please indicate the bottom width of the snout as well.

Closed Height

Measure the vertical height of your dog’s closed snout from top to bottom. For dogs with very long jowls, measure to the bottom of the jowls instead.

Pant Height

Measure your dog’s mouth height while panting. If that’s not possible, add 1–2” to the closed height for small dogs or 2–3” for medium to large dogs. Photos of your dog panting naturally are helpful.

Nose Tip to Neck

Measure from the end of the snout to the front of their throat/neck, along the bottom jaw. Do not measure past the neck to where the jaw ends.

Forehead Length

Measure from just below the eyes to approximately 1 inch below the ears at the back of the head.

Eye to Ear

Measure along the side of the head from just in front of your dog’s eye to where their ear starts.

Neck Circumference

Measure your dog’s neck circumference, ideally just below the head.

Take it slow

Take measurements several times, and let us know if you need anything double-checked before placing your order!
